Black History Month
For nearly 100 years, the New Hope Rosenwald School has stood in the Fredonia community of Chambers County, the last of several across the area that were constructed in the early 1900s as part of a program to improve educational opportunities for African American children in the rural South.

Historical Society Support
“Traveling Schoolmarm” Susan Webb was there [Fredonia Community Clubhouse] to discuss the Rosenwald School program, and the New Hope Foundation Board Chairman George Barrow talked about the current effort to restore the building to its original architectural plan.

Coosa Valley Donation
Members of the New Hope Foundation met with representatives of the Coosa Valley Resource Conservation & Development Council Tuesday morning to thank them for their support of the New Hope Rosenwald School Project.

Centennial Journey
“Everything about this building is historically significant. It was built on pillars to direct an air flow underneath it. This will make it cooler in the summer and will keep out moisture. There’s very little condensation everything is dry.”
